Silicon Valley bank had a very unique situation where a huge, huge proportion of their money was uninsured. The average bank has about 50% of their deposits are insured by the FDIC. Silicon Valley bank, on the other hand, 86% of its deposits were uninsured.

Both SVB (Silicon Valley Bank) and Signature Bank have crashed and burned dramatically over the past week. What once was a few large customers making withdrawals quickly turned into a bank run of epic proportions.
