The Importance of History in the Great War
It depends where you are. If you're on the western front, then you'd spend a lot of time training. So they pull you out of the line and you would be out of the lines for two, three weeks. New tactics are coming through all the time - contrary to what people think about WWI. They've got to get new drafts in from home and rebuilt. The other thing they're doing is working parties which they go forward to do all the dirty jobs. And they mown like hell about it. Of course they did.
