How Did the Plague Stop the Burial Industry?
Death and commars, commemoration was an entire industry in the late middle ages. Preparing for death was an accepted part of life. People took great care over the process. The plague really stopped this. So what did people do instead? We talk about these plague pits. That was largely tha the peasant class, people o couldn't afford to be commemorated in this way. But one of the things that people did turn to, and i suppose what unified, it was a big unifying and levelling part of the commemorative culture in the fourteenth century.
