The History of Washing Clothes
The way people treated their outer garments is more like we consider our winter coats. In the 16th century, there were methods by which you could do that kind of cleaning using alcohol. People used table Napery in order to cover their clothes when they were eating. aprons were very common as a way of protecting your clothes. And quite often these could be knitted over sleeves and would protect your clothing from maybe the dirt of what you did for a living.
