Some people do get small jail time. There's been as much as six months, although was that was a special case. But usually it might be 90 days or 30 days. Then there's home confinement, and then there's pure probation. And some will give five years probation. Some will give two months probation. The b misdemeanors aren't governed by sentencing guide lines,. So there's a more discretion, and they seem to be using discretion.
