The Division of Birds - A Great Example of How History Never Works Alone
The book is a collaboration between the Smithsonian's Division of Birds and an author who spent time with them. Author: "I sort of stepped outside of what I might think of as a typical historian's archive" The project was to link individual specimens that Merns collected with like the relevant page in his field book. It also showed me a new way of thinking about some of the scientific work that soldiers were doing alongside their official military tasks.
