Mao and Stalin - A History of the PRC
In December 1949, Mao already leading to one side took a trip to Moscow arriving on the 16th. Stalin greeted Mao warmly and the two guys who couldn't stand each other hit it off. On Valentine's Day, 1950, Mao and Stalin agreed to the terms of the Treaty of Friendship, Alliance, and Mutual Assistance.
