The Problem With Printing a Book in English

The first book printed in English by Caxton is The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer at the time was already quite well respected, starting to become a kind of canonical figure. He also had to decide which particular English dialect to choose for his book. So this is an interesting problem because it's not something that would have necessarily popped up with manuscripts.
