The Railroad Strike in 1877
These were the first really big corporations in the united states. And there was a great deal of expansion around the time of the civil war. These railroads were really rapacious itit was kind of shocking. We think to day of railroads as, oh, this is this nice alternative to cars, and, you know, how lovely to see a train go by. They had a big impact on american life. In some ways people thought a very negative one.
