The Challenges of Teaching the Holocaust in the Correct Way
There's quite a large gulf I think between the scholarly landscape and the world of popular representations or popular memory or commemoration of the Holocaust. The best scholarship on the Holocaust is now international in scope international in terms of scholarly cooperation and so on but it varies from place to place. It doesn't play well in Germany where conventional Holocaust priorities if you like are very rooted in in controlling the idea that this was a German crime because anything else was somehow waters down the significance of the event.
