The Consequences of a Long Colonial History
May's connections to colonial history are contested by the people involved. Some activists and survivors in the like US military camp town system have even gone so far as to use the term like comfort women of the US military to analogize the camp town to them. Andy: I do think that when you create these big sweep histories people who are trying to figure out where they fit into this country may also be refused by the people who we are narrating. May: It appeases a type of um neurosis that takes place that I'm very familiar with as an educated assimilated Asian which centers me or somebody like myself.
