The Levites played all kinds of musical instruments during the worship that was conducted at the temple. David sort of organized the the Levites into various, various choirs and various gatherings of musicians. So Israel was by no means a devoid of musical instruments. In fact, they were they were at the very core of the worship of the people of God.
