APL - The Logistics of the Supply Pyramid
A Canadian mountaineering club asked him to help with a game of supply pyramid. He used an APL terminal and acoustic coupler, which some older listeners will remember. It was his first time programming for someone else; he didn't have the math right. But it gave him useful experience out of the very limited resource made available in Canada.
