Northwestern says investigation did not find sufficient evidence that the coaching staff knew about this ongoing hazing. Geologists suggest it may have been a deep-seated landslide in Southern California's unique topography. Steep hillsides and weak bedrock, coupled with heavy winter rain, makes it especially vulnerable.
