Positive Discipline - One Bite at a Time

When my oldest was just two years old, I was using timeouts. One day after a particularly difficult power struggle, trying to keep him in time out, I had that recognition. This is not working. We cannot take it all on at once. It's too much. Changing our patterns of interacting is a bit like eating an elephant. So we want to take one bite at a time. Once we have that down, that's a habit. Before we know it, we're parenting very differently.
