The Cornerstone
The Psalm is quoted by Jesus at the conclusion of his parable about the vineyard. It describes how builders on a building site might reject a particular stone or building block that was unsuitable for their purpose. For believers, Jesus is understood to be the chosen precious stone laid by God himself in whom they can safely put their trust. But unbelievers are like the builders who rejected the stone only to find that somebody else has stepped in and given it the honored position.
