The CIA's Early Days
The Truman doctrine was allenciated in the wake of British withdrawal because Britain was going broke. At first, United States would come to the aid of Greece and Turkey, but then it was expanded to mean that America would support the anti-communist cause anywhere in Europe. In its early days, the agency had two kinds of missions: intelligence and covert operations.
