The Roaring Twenties

The phrase didn't emerge into popular use until around 19 24. It was used during the era to describe it, but not until someway through the decade. The roaring twenties apply in part because of prohibition and the sense that the doors were blowing off. For a small coatery of black people, of artists and intellectuals in new york, they became associated with what was called the harlem renaissance.
