The Importance of Scholarly Speculation in History

Scholarly speculation is, I would say, absolutely necessary when we're looking at lives that have been slightly marginalised or even wholly marginalised. It's far better, in my opinion, to have evidence-based scholarly speculation rather than not go there at all. Why do you think it's so important that we push boundaries within historical studies? So we're talking about these, you know, we're giving these people these 15 minutes of fame. How can we work around the inherent issues that entails?
