The Unusual Prominence of Ramses the Second in Ancient Egypt
Ramses the second is quite unusual in ancient Egyptian history for the prominence that he gave in his own lifetime to his wives. Very often royal wives are very sort of marginal figures in the official record but not so with Ramses the second. And so a really unusual prominence in the art artistic and architectural records. He was extremely close, certainly to the tari and wanted to elevate her above what was usual for a Pharaoh's wife.
