The King of Nineveh Says to the Whole City Repenting

The Bible says that God's heart, his disposition towards you and his disposition to the world is compassion. We think of compassion as feeling pity or concern; but it starts with a deep gut-feeling like something is wrong. It culminates in action: your heart going towards an evil thing then doing something about it. And so what are we seeing here in this point of the sermon? There was the king of Nineveh or Jonah, one of the prophets. What they had in common is they recognize that God was a God of compassion. The way that God chooses to identify himself is with compassion.
