How Many Black Roman Soldiers Did the Romans Have?

Black roman soldiers are a very modern construct for identity. The romans did think about race in the same way that we do. So it's hard to say with any absolute confidence exactly how much they're mixing with the local farming population, local farmers and villages. But there's definitly going to be some mixing. And even though, at least for the early roman empire, the soldiers were forbidden to marry legally, they they absolutely, we have the clear tombstone evidence that showed that's not the case.
