Myths and Misconceptions in the Geneva Conventions
There are a couple of what I call master narratives at the Conventions past. The most powerful one suggests that these delicates went to Geneva in the late 40s were primarily motivated by the shock of atrocity and inspired by certain humanitarian principles. So my book tells a little bit of a different story. It argues that the conventions were not so much a product of the shock fell in the wake of the atrocities of the Second World War. Constructed into conventions meant allowing some forms of inhumanity while tolerating others. And it was concerned more than simply fixing kind of the defects or shortcomings of international laws revealed about the experience of WWII.
