Wolf's Law states that bone remodels in response to mechanical stresses. Remodeling is also dictated by the piezoelectric charges of bone. Un-reamed nails maintain the endosto blood supply, whereas reaming compromises the inner 50 to 80% of the cortex. Other internal variables that may influence fracture healing include head injury and other mechanical factors.
