I don't think this is ultimately about malevolence. It's about interest there were groups who were going to lose out by the freeing of african peoples legally, so that they were no longer able to be treated as somebody else's property but their own persons. So i see it, i see it in those terms. I see it as a question of of competing interests. But i also think there is a dimension here of a what was potentially, we could call it accidental or unintended,. In the sense that because there was never once, somehow, the the sense amongst those who were making these decisions to bring the black people who were being affected by them to the decision making table,
