The Importance of Constraint in Art
A lot of creativity comes out of necessity and out of lack. Saul Steinberg said what we respond to in art is the artists struggle against their own limitations. I think this is why you can enjoy a garage band and a symphony at the same time. So like a garage band is a couple Joe's or whatever who just picked that's why punk rock and the symphony can both work.
