Assess institutions by their purpose

Society has gotten radically more inclusive the last few generations. This has largely been a good thing, and prevented countless people from being discriminated against on the basis of their gender, race, or sexuality. But is there an upper limit to inclusivity? Can it go too far? And can we become so 'inclusive' that we end up alienating, harming, and excluding people?
