Operative options include external fixation, intermedullary nailing and percutaneous locking plates. In terms of outcomes, shortening is most difficult to control with non operative management. Angulation and rotational control are difficult to achieve by close methods. The extent of shortening and translation on injury radiographs should be expected at the time of union.
