Challenging the Standard Narrative on Opioid Addiction and Overdose Rates

This chapter presents evidence from various studies to challenge the commonly accepted narrative on opioid addiction and overdose rates. It examines the addiction rate for chronic pain patients and the misuse rate for post-surgical patients, highlighting the distinction between dependence and addiction. The chapter also explores the influence of certain studies on policymakers' restrictions on opioid dosing.
