A Brief History of the Battle of Flanders
Flanders is just one great morass, and all military operations have been brought to a standstill by the mud. The rain pours incessantly from above, where beneath us, the water table has risent just below ground level. One soldier, willy burne, started a letter home, we are simply nothing but moles. For we are booring trenches so that the onenlander shan't break through. Here we have constructed daggards in which we can lay our weary heads at night and slip into to be out of the way of the shrapnel. He was struck by a sniper's bullet, and it was completed and then post home by his comrades.
