I often take my elderly parents on weekend trips to our local casinos. On one occasion, I hit a royal flush and immediately told my dad who was sitting next to me to switch seats and claim the hand pay. My dad has been retired forever is on social security and has not filed taxes for decades because his income is below the minimum standard deduction. Is it a good AP play to have someone on the team with no tax liability claim smaller hand pays or is this illegal or unethical at best?
