The Importance of Strategic Clarity in Defense of Taiwan

If China were to try to invade Taiwan, we would have to try to. Our strategy is to stop them from succeeding and crossing the Taiwan Strait. But they could theoretically encircle the island even if they can't reach it. We've got to start arming the Taiwanese. And President Biden to his credit has said four times now that the United States military will will defend Taiwan four times. The White House has walked that back.
