The American Peace Programme, the 14th, and the League of Nations
i think i'd start with the americans, and what i mentioned earlier on about the armistice contract. wodra wilson had set out an american peace programme publicly in the 14 points. The most important the 14 points, from wilson's perspective was the fourteenth, which is the league of nations. Wilson was torn between a punitiov approach, a view that the germans had transgressed and should be punished. But beyond that, tha they should be rehabilitated. Beyond that, a balance of power considerations play quite an important part. The british also have a preference for self determination, at least within europe, not outside the french.
