China's Agricultural Disaster in 1959
19 59 was not a year of good weather for chinas farmers. The way in which massive amounts of agricultural resources were diverted to industry and the state policy of procuring grain from the peasants led to mal nutrition on a national scale. There weren't even enough hos, ploughs and sice. It was a debaccle of biblical proportions.
