The Origins of the Convicts
Convicts are so well documented because this material is meant to control them. The traces that are left really allow me as an historian to use them for ends they were never envisaged for. So there's an amazing database called Trove, which any Australian listeners will probably be aware of. There's a digitized repository that's keyword searchable of most colonial newspapers in Australia.
