The Importance of Skin Problems

In Leviticus 13, the priest diagnoses someone as having sarah at and then isolates them. This is not what real leprosy does; it's a skin problem that has no explanation for how it happens. The person pronounced unclean is isolated outside the camp because that person could well pollute others. They have to tear their clothes or leave their hair unkempt in mourning rituals.
