The Reformist Project Was Not Dead in 1999
In 1999, the Ministry of Intelligence and judiciary were going after anyone who was in a such low hanging fruit. It's also in this period that we see very much the active presence of what was called the special court for clergy. In 2000, there was actually a significant showing of the reformists in the sixth parliament. But yeah, it was very much put to bed and resisted by President Khartemi.
