How Open Organizations Contribute to the Climate Movement

Ilyse Hogue is the founder and executive director of 350.org, an online progressive engagement network. She says activists can be very engaged in campaigns on global issues but also do what she calls digitally distributed campaigning. The groups that I study are particularly adept at doing this kind of domestic based activism because they can mobilize thousands of people on the streets. They often do collaborate with other movements, including 350.org or, you know, with other campaigning groups, say, Greenpeace.
