Finance is a problem that has been solved. Anybody who has the curiosity and the basic intellectual capacity to learn about the markets can become a fairly sophisticated investor. If you're an advisor, don't be spending a lot of your time trying to add alpha through understanding investing better than the rest of the market. That is a mug's game, right? So don't try to solve that problem. It's largely solved. The advice part of being a financial advisor is the hard part. That's the part where you should earn the money.
