Colin: There are a lot of merfolk myths and legends out there that involve the creatures having some degree of control over or knowledge of weather and storms. The Blue Men of Minch were said to haunt the Minch passage of the outer Hebrides off of Scotland. This body of water is known in Gaelic as Struthnapfir Gorma, the channel of the Blue Men.
