How did values that we now associate with progressive attitudes, like cosmopolitanism and multiculturaism become central to the neo liberal order? And how important are they to the mel liberal order? Well, this is a controversial argument that i make. I think it'll be particularly provocative and controversial for your, your listeners. But in my view, if we're to understand the popularity of these ideas in the united states, we have to also see the ways in which the illiberal ideas were able to attach themselves to classical liberal ideas of freedom and emancipation.
