The Unpredictability of War

Starting a war that didn't need to be started is one of the worst things I've ever seen in my lifetime. And we're treating it like as business as usual. What would be more outrageous than starting a war with a nuclear power on false pretenses? It might drain Russia of its power in the long run. So it's not entirely clear to me that it won't work. The real motivations of our government was to drain Russia of Its power, ideally to replace Putin but at least drain them of their power.
