Impossible Metals says it can leave much of the ecosystem intact. There's questions over whether this can just work from a technical standpoint. The rate of nodule collection with these things, I think would be much lower than with a giant vacuum cleaner. It is potentially game-changing, but still that's potential not quite yet reality.
