What Do You Do in Pediatric Anesthesia?

For the first 15 years of practice I was working primarily in a pediatric intensive care unit One of several intensivists usually on call for a week at a time. When I moved to Boston Children's hospital It was very similar. We had a huge a much bigger pediatricintensive care unit And I spent most of my time there but on weeks when I was not in the ICU I would work some days in the operating room doing pediatric anesthesia. After probably 15 or so years of practice and part of that was because as one gets older it's harder and harder to stay up all night in the ICUs.
