The Fascination With Machinery in the War
I came from a very Christian family. My mum, my granddad or my mum so I was a conscientious objector. Like war was just not something that was part of our family experience but I was always obsessed with it. You know, picking up sticks to shoot them as I write about in the book. And then as soon as Lego came along and toys it was making war machines. Then being into model airplanes. And I just, I don't remember a particular eureka moment. But I do remember that the kind of menacing side of war as the book starts with seeing these jaguar fighter jets blasting over the cottage where we went on holiday in Norfolk every year. So
