The Four Principles of Human Happiness
The four principles will, in most circumstances, produce a pretty good answer to whatever ethical conundrum you've got. I raise the complaint that autonomy often seems to have too strident a voice in that conversation. And its voice needs to be heard alongside the other three. That's something which historically hasn't happened. But as a tool for teaching medical students, am for principles give you a very good start. Its a nice little thing to remember. It should be seen as a vindication that you got pretty close to the source.
