The Dangers of Compassion in Political Debates

I think that before this issue really took off in the mainstream, I think most people probably were able to make those types of distinctions. And if somebody's presenting a certain way and wants to be addressed a certain way, fine, shirt, whatever. But as it became really, this activism became really demanding, really aggressive; unlike the gay rights movement was not libertarian in how it was being framed. It was demanding total acceptance, total embrace of the new orthodoxy.
