There's no way we can stop people, apart from lai down the law. The idea is to write some policy based on what the public thinks. I don't know if it's a perfect system, because, no, it's still a small sample. Er, but at least it's a step towards making this a sor of joint public endeavour. And perhaps this incident really demonstrates that scientists take thist very seriously, don't they? Oh, definitely, yes.
