The most famous and dramatic poling miss in british politics was the 19 70 election. When you look afterwards at what went wrong, it's not like the polsters just had one thing that went wrong. It's like they had a combination of different factors all lining up, unfortunately in the same direction to push their poles off. And this is perhaps the ironic tragedy the poles, which is that we all tend to be more interested in what the poles say when an election is looking really close.
