Is ESPN Going to Be a Standalone Unit?
ESPN and its streaming offshoot, ESPN Plus, will become a standalone unit for the first time. The challenge that ESPN has is it makes a considerable amount of money on cable carriage fees which have legal agreements to say they have to broadcast sports live. It would be a breach if ESPN co-broadcast the college football playoffs on ESPN ABC or Disney Plus. These are agreements that are going to take years to sort out.
